Sorry for the bump, but I'm having the Error 1719 issue, been following
the directions on http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315346/en-us, except
I've hit a snag.

The second step i have to do it "b. Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, expand
SYSTEM, expand CurrentControlSet, expand Services, and then click
MSIServer."

The only problem is that I don't have a folder named CurrentControlSet,
I've got one called CurrentControlSet001, CurrentControlSet002 and
CurrentControlSet003. Any idea what I should do? Modify just one?
Modify all 3?

This just might be (yet another) case of "insufficient data". Did you
Google it?

Are you editing an off-line registry? Look at the
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Select key to find out which key will be used
to boot the computer. If you are editing the active registry then look
harder, I assure you there is a CurrentControlSet!

There is a CurrentControlSet, but as mentioned above, I've got- three
-of the things.

No, if you are editing the registry of the current Windows session you
only have one CurrentControlSet. Look again!

If you are trying to edit the registry on a dormant Windows installation
then there is no CurrentControlSet, the CurrentControlSet is created
from one of the numbered ControlSets (ControlSetnnn) when Windows is
booted, there is only one "Current" Control Set, the other ones are just
"Control" Sets, they are not "Current".
