I have several networked XP Pro SP2 machines, with 3 common shared
subdirectories.
One machine seems to have a registry problem related to access control. Two
of its shared subdirectories are accessible via mapped drives on the other
PCs, and all 3 are accessible as Network Places. However, although on the
other PCs I can allocate a drive letter to this misbehaving shared directory,
clicking on this drive letter produces an error ".. don't have access to this
drive...". By the way, all file sharing privileges are identical for each
shared directory and users, and of course simple file sharing is disabled.
I have tried clearing and re-setting sharing to no avail, and even
cautiously tried removing all registry entries that I could find that
referred to the Share Name that I had used, before re-setting sharing.
Any ideas about what has happened, even better, wherte to look to fix the
problem? >> Stay informed about: Drive mapping |
