Make sure they are all fully updated.
Service Pack 3, post Service Pack 3 updates, latest video card and network
interface card drivers from the corresponding manufacturers, latest version
of the Remote Desktop Client.
Description of the Remote Desktop Connection 7.0 client update for Remote
Desktop Services (RDS) for Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista SP1, and Windows
Vista SP2

Also - I would also go ahead and enable Network Level Authentication (NLA)
in each of the Windows XP machines. To enable NLA, you have to turn on the
Credential Security Service Provider (CredSSP).
Description of the Credential Security Service Provider (CredSSP) in Windows
XP Service Pack 3

Also - if you remotely connect to a machine as a user not in that machine's
administrators group and a user in the administrators group is logged into
said remote machine already - you will be unable to log them off.
