XP Pro SP2. Since installing the last set of Windows updates I get a
security warning dialog every time I try to run a program or open a
file on a mapped drive. How can I disable all of these warnings and
return to the old behavior?

All I have found using Google groups are messages that say add the
server to some zone in IE with no clue how to do it. I will do this for
every computer on the networ if I must but what I really want is to
configure Windows so that it will never display a warning for any file
on any computer on the local area network. Thanks.

Sorry for multi-posting. I just discovered this group which seems more
appropriate.

*shrug*
Not necessarily.
"General" would pretty much cover it. *grin*

Try this...

Add to the Local Intranet Zone in Internet Explorer 7

- Click on Internet Options in the Tools menu. The Tools menu has a gear
icon on it.
- Click on the Security tab.
- Click on "Local Intranet"
- Click on the "Sites" button
- Click on the "Advanced..." button
- You once said you wanted to basically add all the local network so you no
longer got the warning... so...
- Make sure "Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this
zone is UNchecked
- In the "Add this web site to the zone" area, type in:
192.168.0.*
(Note: if you know what your local area network is...
192.168.1.xxx or something else, act appropriately.
For example, if it was 10.0.5.1 --> 10.0.5.255, you
could enter 10.0.5.*)
- Click on the Add button
- Click on the OK button
- Click on the OK button
- Click on the OK button
- Close all windows and reboot - repeat on all machines you want to get rid
of the warning on.
