From: "gabriel"
| Recently I have installed a card reader (ACR38U) and the middeleware
| (Belgium Identity Card 3.5 - beid-runtime-3.5-364 - pkcs#11)software.
| All works fine, I can send signed mails (Thunderbird), read from
| Internet sites (Firefox) that needs authorization from a card, ...
| What I can't do is logging on locally on my PC with my card (It
| recognize the cardreader - icon on logon) but when I insert the Identity
| card it says "The card supplied requires drivers that are not present on
| this system."
| also when I logon normally (name and password) and I try to connect an
| network drive through "net use * \\server\share /cardspace" I receive a
| message that the card is not recognized.
| As a solution on the Internet I found "Customer re-installed ActivClient
| with the Microsoft CAPI support." I have searched the Microsoft site
| with no results.
| My question is now: Where can I find the software an how can I install
| it in order to logon locally on my PC with my eID card?
| My configuration is as follows:
| XP Pro with SP3
| card reader: ACR38U
| middleware: Belgium Identity Card 3.5 - beid-runtime-3.5-364 - pkcs#11
| thank you, gabriël
You say you have a "card reader" and middleware. I presume you mean Smart Card Reader and
Smart Card Middleware.
You can't logon with a Smart Card unless the PC is a Domain participant and setup up to
perform cryptographic logons.
Depending on the capabilities of the Smart Card you have, you may be able to; sign email,
encrypt email and gain access to PKI protected web sites.
