Post subject: CS:S, WoW freeze, vid card issue?
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>games (more info?)

I'm running an Nvidia 6600 vid card, haven't had any problems with it
before... i had windows ****sta, i mean vista on this computer, but
since i only have like 1 gig ram and my vid card isn't that great, it
was hindering my performance... so i upgraded to xp... i started
having problems with games like CS:S and WoW... i'd be playing and all
the sudden its a dead freeze, and the sound is like an infinite loop
stuck on the same soundbyte... i checked my RAM using a mem test
software, and it cleared... so i think i can rule that out as a
problem... updated every single driver i have on my computer... got
the latest and greatest of directx... basically have tried every
software fix i can think of... my vid card is running around 70
degrees Celsius when i'm in either of the 2 games i've mentioned...
that itself doesn't look out of the ordinary... games like Starcraft,
i have no problems in whatsoever... but before i go out and buy a new
vid card, i'd like some help with people telling me what the problem
could be...

Vid Card: Nvidia 6600
Ram: 2x 512 Mb
Mobo: ECS
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 bit
Network Card: Linksys Wireless-G

I have the same problem too. But not at first, it took like 3 months for WOW
to give me trouble.

Try rolling back your Video drivers. It sounds like a vid card issue, but it
could be caused by the drivers. Do a web search for older nVidia drivers
that support your card and see if that works.
