Post subject: CD/DVD data burning in XP Media Center Get Alert
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windows>mediacenter (more info?)

Our XP Media Center PC (SP2) only burns data CDs or DVDs through the Media
Center software.

We have some documents we would like to back up, but the Media Center
software only works with pictures, music or videos.

We can open My Documents, but cannot right-click and Send To the burner...it
is not an option on the Send to menu. We successfully burned both a data CD
and Data DVD through the Media Center software, so the drive is functional.

We swapped the burner to see if the drive was defective, and still had no
Send To options or drag and drop onto the CD Drive, we get an Invalid
Operation.

Does Media Center restrict how we burn? The included software is nice, but
it was a lot easier hand picking everything (pics, vids, music and
documents) to burn with a drap and drop or Send To.

Any insight is appreciated, thanks in advance.

Dan

Windows XP has built-in ability to burn a CD.

To activate the Windows XP CD burning, Right Click the CD drive in Windows
Explorer or in My Computer. Properties, Recording tab, check enable CD
recording on this Drive, Select a place to temporarily store file, OK.

Now you can drag and drop files to the CD recorder.
