Would anyone like to suggest a good, free cd burner for XP that will work
with RW disks?

I'm not aware of any CD burner that is free, although you may be able to
find one that is free after a rebate.

Could you be referring to CD burning software? If so, please describe
what makes such software "good" in your eyes, since what I think is
"good' may be totally unsuitable for you.

I won't get into a battle of semantics with you Leonard; I'll simply plonk
your miserable ass right at the get-go and save us both a lot of trouble.

Hello.
I use FinalBurnerFree.
Here is a link to several free burner software packages, with information
concerning each one's capabilities.

Assuming you mean the software for the cd burner that would run under
Windows XP...

CDBurnerXP Pro
http://www.cdburnerxp.se/

DeepBurner Free
http://www.deepburner.com/

ImgBurn (burn ISO images)
http://www.imgburn.com/

Final Burner Free
http://www.protectedsoft.com/descr_fb.php

BWGBurn
http://sourceforge.net/projects/bwgburn

BurnAware FREE Edition
http://www.glorylogic.com/

Another Option would be to search the web with Pricewatch.com or
Dealsites.net and find deals on Products like Ahead Nero and/or Roxio.

Ahead Nero
http://www.nero.com/

Roxio Easy Media Creator
http://www.roxio.com/

There are many more - but if you are going for Packet-Writing (which I have
never had luck with personally) - probably (and unfortunately) the
commercial options (last in the list above) are the best.

thoroughly.

John, I downloaded and installed CDBurnerXP4. Don't know if that's good or
bad, as I had to install net framework beforehand. Seemed like a lot to do
just to get a cd burner but it seems to work alright.

Thanks for your reply! Smile

Hello,
You are welcome.
Add-on:
Microsoft has a free program "Windows XP Photo Story 3 digital slideshow
software."

Give it a look, you may be interested in using this type of photo program.
take care.

The choice is yours, you use whichever is suitable for your needs. Many
people recommend CDBurner and I'm certainly not going to knock that
recommendation.

A lot of software needs the .net framework so it is not unusual for you to
have to install .net framework prior to installing the burning software.

John, as it happened, I believe CDBurnerXP was the first that Google came
up with. As I needed to get the photos to disk so I could display them for
my mother on her tv, it was what I went with. I'm going to try the others
recommended here. I like to always have more than one choice.

Thanks!
