Boot problems PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

i have windows xp professional installed on a Dell laptop. I gotn a virus &
now i cant do anything with it. on boot up it says that a startup file is
corrupt, & to use the recovery console to rectify. I run the recovery console
& after i choose the windows log on to repair i get the bsod!! Cant even
re-install, as it gets so far then i get the same bsod, It says,
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA, the STOP code is, 0x00000050
(0xCDCDDDAD,0x00000000,0x808A9269,0x00000000). i cant find any help on this
code in windows online help. can anyone advise please? thanks
