Post subject: Allocating fixed USB com ports to devices
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>general (more info?)

Hi All,

I have a problem with com ports and USB. I have some quad RS232 to USB
converters, and I'd like XP to always allocate them fixed com port numbers,
say 4 to 7, as they are used with other applications such as terminal
emulators and chip programmers that have been pre-set to use those com
ports. Is there a way of doing this, or is there a management program
available that can be used to easily move com port allocations around?

Thanks!

Mark.
