When I set msconfig, either on or off, it throws this error message:

"An access denied error was returned while attempting to change a service.
You may need to log on using an Administrator account to make the
specified changes."

I am logged on as an administrator, and in fact the change was NOT denied.
I am able to set the msconfig and able to turn it off. The problem is
merely the messages. How do I get rid of them?

Hi Stephen,

Two common "culprits" are ZoneAlarm and a security update for HP printer. If
you have either/both, then....

For ZoneAlarm, go to Program Control, then Programs tab and locate System
Configuration Utility. Click on the single green bar in the Trust Level
column, and change it to Trusted, which displays 2 green bars.

For HP printer update, open the registry editor and navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/Pml Driver HPZ12
Double click on the Start value in the right-hand pane and change the Value
data to 4

Locate several anti-spyware tools like Ad Aware, Spybot and Spyware
Terminator. Use each separately in "Safe Mode" in order to check/
clean out possible spyware infectations.
