can anybody give me any tips on how to get it started ???. i have tried
everything. i don't know what else to do...

Looks like you might wish to check your clock and time.
You'll need to provide more specifics on your isp, type of mail account(pop3, web based, imap) etc..for anyone to answer beyond asking if you properly setup your email account in Vista's Windows Mail.
